This is the second full year of this website. We have decided not to proceed to using an internet based payment collecting system for our meetings at present as that would add to our costs and therefore also yours. We think that when you decide to come to Nottingham you will find the booking straightforward

Currently the BSOA has just over 200 members, a steady stream who join and a slightly slower stream who leave, although we suspect that leaving is a function of leaving the country or of changing bank account and not transfering the standing order!

If you are a member and have not registered on line, or if you would like to join (there is a small fee) we would like you to fill in the registration page so we can keep in touch.  Much of this information is not viewable by anyone bar the two web controllers. Your email address will only be visable to another member who has logged on. It is important for the Society to be able to contact its members, and to know who they are when giving the discount for the meetings.

If you have a lecture already prepared that you would be able to use please put  a precis (as a PDF) in the resource page adding "Lecture" in the abstract box after the title and your name. We are regularly asked if we can suggest a lecturer for a meeting and it may help future BSOA Congress organisers. You could even get to somewhere exotic!

So get registered and get your password!

Currently we need to confirm your membership before sending your password and for new members this will be when your bank confirms that the Standing Order has been set up.

We welcome new members!

You have to be interested and be registered with the GMC or European equivalent.Membership costs £15 per year in November with a joining fee of £15 whenever you join. Just click on the Register button on the right fill the form in and follow the instructions on the welcome page after submitting your details.

November 12th Annual Scientific Meeting

This years meeting will be at the Albert Hall conference centre, Nottingham. Click on Events at the top of the page, and then click again on the 15th Annual Scientific Meeting headline.

If you want to register direct now, contact Nina on 0115 924 9924 ext66081 or email nina.iacovitti@nuh.nhs.uk

Election of Officers to the committee of the BSOA

There were insufficient members present at the AGM to elect a new President. Rita Gad Elrab finished her two years as president on a high note at the end of the extremely good meeting in Egypt.

Nominations are sought for the position of President, which historically is held for two years.

Other elected posts are opened to dispute each year if anyone feels they can do a better job. These are the Hon Secretary of the Society and the Treasurer. John Vernon has been Treasurer for a year and would expect to continue for another three years. Chris Emmett has been Hon Sec for three years and will continue for one more year unless anyone wishes to take over immediately.

Rachel Peer is coopted to represent the non  consultant grade, Tom Neal is coopted as the editor of the resourses and forum area of the website.

All members registered will be emailed to seek nominations. If you wish to nominate anyone straight away, please email The Hon Sec Chris Emmett, at bsoa.honsec@googlemail.com
